I'm Ashleigh Retzloff, and here’s my story:
I am a classically trained private chef and culinary expert with nearly two decades of experience in the food industry. I am a Texas native with a bit of a unique background: I studied Opera at Manhattan School of Music and Music Business at NYU before embarking on a professional culinary career, graduating from the Art Institute of Houston with a Culinary Arts degree and studying nutrition at the University of Houston.
Throughout my diverse culinary career, I have been lucky enough to explore many different roles throughout the industry. I have been a private chef and meal prep specialist for discerning clients in Houston, Orange County, and Los Angeles, a culinary expert for Williams Sonoma, and a chef instructor at Sur La Table. My restaurant experience includes positions as sous chef at Michelin Guide-recognized establishments such as Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen and Chaak Kitchen in Orange County. I was a recipe developer and food stylist for COSORI for several years, where I created cookbooks to accompany their products and styled food for commercial photo and video shoots. Recently I was the head chef of Tabula Rasa in East Hollywood, a chic neighborhood wine bar, where I hosted a popular burger pop-up.
My culinary philosophy and the ethos behind Bergamot Kitchen centers on creating joyful, stress-free dining experiences. I specialize in crafting personalized menus that not only cater to my clients' tastes but also gently introduce them to new flavors and cuisines. My approach to food is influenced by my love for travel and exploration of Los Angeles' diverse culinary scene, enriching the dining experiences I bring to clients.
